Julie Crawshay: From GBM Caregiver to Brain Cancer Educator

Julie Crawshay never set out to become a brain cancer educator. Like most caregivers, she was simply trying to help someone she loved.
The diagnosis that changed everything

When her husband Nic was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, Julie Crawshay stepped into the caregiver role overnight — learning the language of neuro-oncology, tracking treatments and trials, and holding the family together. It was in that experience that she saw how badly families needed clear, trustworthy information.
Turning experience into advocacy
Rather than let that hard-won knowledge go to waste, Julie Crawshay began sharing it — first informally, then through The Neuro Farmacist across Substack and Instagram. In 2024 she also ran the TCS Sydney Marathon for the Cure Brain Cancer Foundation, turning grief into forward motion for GBM research.
An educator and advocate today
Today Julie Crawshay is recognised as a Sydney-based brain cancer caregiver advocate and educator, helping other families navigate a GBM diagnosis with more clarity and less fear. Her message stays constant: you are not alone, and good information is a form of hope.
